Vast Data and Nvidia are teaming up to integrate the Vast Data AI Operating System directly into Nvidia GPU-powered servers.
Dubbed the Vast CNode-X, the solution has been developed with Nvidia and will bring high-performance storage services to Nvidia GPU clusters, as well as make the OS directly available on the hardware. According to Vast, this will be optimized for AI pipelines, high-performance analytics, vector search, RAG systems, and agentic workloads.
The solution aims to reduce operational complexity and removes the need to stitch together separate storage, database, and AI infrastructure stacks.
The CNode-X servers will be available from Cisco, HPE, Supermicro, and other OEMs.
“Ten years ago, we set out to build a system that could continuously refine data into intelligence and action,” said Renen Hallak, founder & CEO of Vast Data. “That future is here. By accelerating both compute and the data path inside the Vast AI OS, we’re giving customers a faster, simpler way to operationalize retrieval, analytics, and agentic workflows as one coherent pipeline so AI can move from pilot to durable, production systems.”
“Nvidia is reinventing every pillar of computing for AI. With Vast Data, we’re transforming the storage of AI infrastructure,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO, Nvidia. “CNode-X is CUDA-accelerated at every layer to give AI agents persistent memory so they can work on complex problems over days or weeks, and eventually years, without forgetting — opening the world to the next frontier of AI.”
“Enterprises need a clear, reliable path to operationalizing AI at scale,” added Jeetu Patel, president and chief product officer, Cisco. “By working with Vast and Nvidia, we’re bringing a GPU-accelerated, end-to-end AI platform to market on proven Cisco infrastructure, helping customers move from experimentation to secure, always-on AI systems faster and with greater confidence.”
A recent piece of research from cloud storage firm Backblaze suggested that neocloud workloads are driving different network behaviour as compared to typical cloud and compute workloads.
According to Backblaze’s technical lead network engineer, Brent Nowak, “AI networking is less about many-to-many communication and more about sustained high-throughput relationships between specialized systems.” Thus, the report suggested that we can expect storage, compute, and networking to come into “closer alignment.”
The expanded partnership between Vast Data and Nvidia has been announced alongside the launch of Vast's new multi- and hybrid cloud offering dubbed Polaris, which aims to enable distributed AI infrastructure to act as one fleet.
