Vantage is reportedly looking to exit the Hong Kong data center market by selling its facilities in the territory in a deal that could be worth up to $500 million.
The company is working with a financial advisor and has already contacted prospective buyers to gauge their interest, according to a report from Bloomberg.
Citing people familiar with the plan, Bloomberg’s report said Vantage hopes to raise $300-$500 million from any sale if it goes ahead. The company declined to comment when approached by the outlet.
Vantage acquired its Hong Kong data centers in 2021 when it purchased the portfolio of sites that had previously belonged to PCCW DC. This comprised 100MW of IT space across Hong Kong and Malaysia.
The company now operates three data centers in Hong Kong - the 14MW Fo Tan and Kwai Chung facilities, and the smaller 7MW On Lok data center.
In total, US-based Vantage operates 34 data center campuses globally. In January it was revealed DigitalBridge and Silver Lake were investing $6.4 billion in the business, and this week it secured a $3 billion loan facility to help fund its expansion plans in America.
On Wednesday, Vantage announced plans for a €1 billion ($1.07bn) data center campus in Ireland, complete with on-site power generation.
