The US Space Command has announced it will host an industry day on April 1 to provide information about the construction of a command and control facility, set to contain a “secure data center.”

The facility, which will serve as Space Command's new headquarters, has been allocated a 64-acre site on the Redstone Arsenal US Army base in Alabama.

But details about the “secure data center” which will be built inside are sparse.

The announcement posted on sam.gov states that the “Visitor Control Center, vehicle inspection area, and secure data center” will have an estimated total square footage of 700,000 sq ft (65,000 sqm).

Interested parties – which need to register before March 18 – should also have experience in the design and construction of “technology-driven operations centers, resilient and redundant infrastructure, integrated information technology systems, secure space standards, High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse hardening, and Radio Frequency Shielding.”

The US Space Command is currently based in Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado. But President Trump announced last year that Space Command would be moved to Alabama
