The founding member and US investment lead for the $100 billion Brookfield AI Infrastructure Fund has left for Anthropic.

Jake Gross joined the generative AI firm in May to work on compute transactions, as well as capital markets and corporate development.

Gross spent the last four-and-a-half years at Brookfield Asset Management, including a secondment to xAI that lasted a year-and-a-half.

Brookfield launched its AI fund this past November, backed by GPU giant Nvidia and the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA). The fund initially targets $10 billion in equity commitments, and plans to acquire up to $100bn of AI infrastructure assets, ranging from energy and land to data centers and compute.

At the same time, the investment firm launched its own cloud provider, Radiant, which is set to deploy Nvidia hardware. In February, Radiant acquired Ori Industries for a combined AI cloud platform.

"The last few years have been busy, but it's wild to reflect on everything we accomplished," Gross said.

"Along with my colleagues, we acquired and transitioned old businesses into new ones, launched first-of-its-kind products, and raised the first dedicated AI infrastructure fund in the world. Grateful for the friends made at Brookfield and SpaceX (s/o X + xAI), along with everyone else I met along the way.

"I'm pumped to be in the new role and keep the fun going. If the first month is any indication, there will be no shortage of interesting challenges to tackle alongside a very impressive group. And now that I'm settled, I'd love to reconnect with my network - especially anyone working in AI infra!"

Gross joins head of compute markets Corry Wang (former Googler), AJ Kourabi (previously SemiAnalysis), and Bryce Carlson (Lucid Motors & AWS).
