Meta's Sham Parmar has joined generative AI firm Anthropic.

Parmar was the senior manager of supply chain and engineering for electrical, mechanical, and fiber connectivity.

"I'm excited to share that I've joined Anthropic as a supply chain lead, power and cooling infrastructure for data center buildouts," Parmar said.

"After eight years at Meta sourcing power, cooling, and connectivity at scale, I'm excited to bring that experience to a mission I deeply believe in."

A number of Meta employees have joined Anthropic, departing amid an environment of mass layoffs at the social media firm.

Anthropic, meanwhile, is aggressively expanding its data center team. The company has pledged to invest $50 billion in data centers in the US with Fluidstack.

Those same projects are being financially supported by Google. The company has major Microsoft, AWS, and Google cloud contracts, with all three hyperscalers as Anthropic investors.

In May, Anthropic signed a deal with SpaceX to rent 300MW of data center space at its xAI data centers. Anthropic has also reportedly signed more than a dozen letters of intent with multiple US data center developers.

Amid its expansion, however, the company faces a growing conflict with the US government. The Department of Defense labeled the company a supply chain risk earlier this year, while this month, Anthropic was forced to pull its latest model due to government intervention.
