US data center firm Flexential has a new CEO.
Ryan Mallory, former president and COO of Flexential, announced yesterday on LinkedIn that he had become the company’s CEO following the departure of former CEO Chris Downie, who also made an announcement on LinkedIn.
Mallory was promoted to president in May of this year, having been COO of Flexential since June 2020. He was previously SVP of global solutions enablement at Equinix.
He added that the company would focus on scaling its platform and capacity, investing in innovation and automations, and strengthening its culture and customer partnerships.
Downie, who has helmed Flexential since September 2016, stated that he was transitioning to “focus on family and [his] next professional adventure,” but specific details were not provided. Formerly CEO of Telx, a firm specializing in interconnect, he is currently a board member of Upstack, an advisory platform for digital infrastructure.
Flexential was formed in 2017 after investment firm GI Partners merged data center firms Peak 10 and ViaWest. In August of this year, GI reinvested in Flexential and secured new external investment for the company in order to fund the development of its data centers across the US, which is where the company is based.
The company currently operates 40 data centers across 18 US markets and has more than 330MW of built and under-development capacity.
