UK telecoms company EE appears to be experiencing an outage, which has affected calls and texts to rival Vodafone.

It appears that Vodafone users can connect to each other or non-EE users, while EE users can call other EE subscribers or non-Vodafone customers. But when either side tries to call or text the other, the connection fails. Vodafone blamed the issue on EE.

“We're aware that some of our mobile customers are unable to make or receive calls from a Vodafone number," EE said in a statement.

"We're working quickly to resolve this and we're very sorry for any inconvenience caused. Calls to other networks, mobile data and text messages are not affected.”

Vodafone did not respond to requests for comment, but said on Twitter/X: "We’re aware of an EE network issue that is affecting calls and text message. Their engineering teams are investigating and working to get the services up and running as quickly as possible."

This is a developing story. We will update it as we learn more.
