Bolton joined n2s as an operations manager in 2019. He was promoted to director of operations in 2021, and for the past three years, he has spearheaded operational improvements and strategic growth for the company.

Following his promotion to CEO, Bolton will look to expand market opportunities in n2s' core services, which cover technical sales, data center decommissioning, and copper cabling granulation. In addition, he will oversee n2s’ consumer IT device re-use and remarketing operations based in Reading, UK, and support alignment with n2s bioleaching subsidiary Bioscope Technologies.

“Together, we will continue to set new standards for technology lifecycle management and IT asset disposal with secure, accountable, and compliant solutions for equipment and cabling de-installation, data erasure, asset refurbishment and reuse, and sustainable zero to landfill end-of-life disposal,” said Bolton when reflecting on his new position.

Bolton joined n2s from Delphi Technologies, an aftermarket power and vehicle component provider, where he spent 25 years in domestic and international roles across engineering, facilities, operations, and project management.

“Rob’s deep knowledge of the IT recycling industry and strong engineering background makes him the ideal choice to lead n2s’ next stage of growth,” said Simon Taylor, chairman of n2s.

Established in 2002, n2s is headquartered in Bury St Edmunds and has offices in Reading, Mansfield, and London. The company recovers retired technology across all domains - from mobile and workplace IT to data center, network, and telecoms equipment - and refurbishes, remarkets, and recycles the components.

According to the company, in the past 12 months, it has securely sanitized 30,000 data-bearing devices, refurbished and resold 4,500 servers, and recovered 200 tons of copper from telecoms infrastructure.

In March, n2s appointed two former Next Generation Data (NGD) executives to senior company positions. NGD co-founder Simon Taylor was appointed chairman of the company and director of Bioscope, and former NGD CEO Nick Razey was made chairman of Bioscope. Both are major investors in the company.
