The company operates one facility in Oklahoma City, at 4442 Newcastle Road that was built by Devon Energy in 2010. Set on four acres, the 65,000 sq ft (6,040 sqm) facility has two 10,000 sq ft (929 sqm) data halls and 8MW of capacity.

Tonaquint said it plans to commission a minimum of 2.5MW of critical IT load, via a phased approach, in the first year of operations at the newly acquired facility. The site has an expansion capability of up to 12MW.

Terry Morrison, co-founder and CTO of EdgeX, will join Tonaquint as COO and CTO.

Matt Hamlin, CEO of Tonaquint, added: “Working with the EdgeX team has been an absolute pleasure. This transaction will enable Tonaquint to accelerate its growth and expand the service offering to our clients.”

Tonaquint was founded in 2008 in Utah as a subsidiary of local developer Kay H. Traveller, and entered Boise 2020 with the acquisition of Fiberpipe Data Centers. DIF Capital Partners acquired the company at the start of 2023.

Located in the Tonaquint Business Park and built in 2008, the St. George facility spans around 28,000 sq ft (2,600 sqm) and offers 4MW of capacity. Constructed in 1999, the Boise site offers 2MW across 45,600 sq ft (4,250 sqm).

The company was founded by John Parsons, Terry Morrison, and Octavio Morales. Parsons and Morrison co-founded Perimeter Technology Center in 2002; it was acquired by TierPoint in 2011, where Morales was then CEO. Since 2012 Parsons has operated Crooked Creek Capital, a private equity firm, while Morrison is CTO at Green Cloud Technologies. Morales left TierPoint in 2019.

Willem Jansonius, partner at DIF and Tonaquint board member, said: “This acquisition is a great step towards further building out the Tonaquint platform and expanding into underserved markets."

EdgeX co-founder Parsons added: “We are thrilled to be able to bring EdgeX together with Tonaquint and are excited about continuing to work with them to extend the capabilities of the Tonaquint platform into the very vibrant Oklahoma City market.”
