A ten-acre data center is coming to Guam.

The territory’s Hybrid Land Use Commission has approved a zoning exception for the installation of several pieces of data center-related infrastructure in Dededo, Guam’s most populous village.

This includes a 45-foot (14 meters) high fire suppression water tank and an eight-foot (2.5 meters) high perimeter fence.

The data center, which was approved prior to the October 9 meeting, will receive around $3 million in investment, and site plans submitted by applicant Pipefish Services LLC show that it will offer around 50,000 sq ft (4,645 sqm) of floor space once completed.

Details about the data center’s capacity and its primary function were not disclosed. Little is also known about Pipefish Services LLC.

Guam is an unincorporated island territory of the US located in the Pacific Ocean. As America’s westernmost point, it hosts a variety of military and communications infrastructure and operates as a landing point for 11 subsea cables, with eight more to become operational by 2028.
