Telx and Appcore have partnered to deliver Appcore’s private-cloud services for enterprises out of Telx’s data centers around the US, the companies said earlier this week.

The service, available in 17 Telx data centers, gives customers a way to outsource the set-up and data center resources required for a private cloud. It also gives them access to Telx’s robust network.

Appcore CEO Brian Donaghy said the partnership was important strategically, adding that Telx was an ideal data center operator for Appcore’s Onsite Private Cloud solution.

“Through this alliance, we are able to bring a customer's branded, private, dedicated cloud service online in 30 days or less with gold global support, enabling them to reap the rewards of cloud computing without the headaches of building it themselves,” Donaghy said.

The alliance gives Telx yet another way to tap into the cloud market without becoming a cloud-services provider itself. The company has created a data center platform for cloud providers and users called Cloud Xchange, which provides data center space and power, as well as a highly interconnected network, for providers to build their solutions on.

For a provider like Appcore, this means not having to lease or build its own data centers, focusing on its core cloud offerings.

Telx is a provider of data center colocation and interconnection services. Its data center footprint is primarily across the US, but it has partnered with companies in Canada, Europe, Africa, India and Asia Pacific to extend its reach internationally.
