Nepalese telco Subisu has launched a new data center in Kathmandu.

The company has opened a new modular facility in the Baluwatar area of the capital.

The facility can reportedly withstand tremors up to 8 Richter Scale. Vertiv is named as the supplier of racks and switches for the facility.

Specifications weren’t shared, but the company said the data center was one of the largest of its kind in the country.

Ram Krishna Pariyar, CTO of the company, told NepaliTelecom the facility was built for its own service upgrade, but will be open to use for other companies in the future.

Work on the facility began during the pandemic, and has taken two years to complete. The facility is located near Subisu's office, which caught fire in 2019.
