Taiwanese cloud and AI infrastructure provider Konst is leasing capacity from LG Sinar Mas’s (LGSM) Indonesian data center in Jakarta.
Announced this month, Konst will lease capacity at SM+’s upcoming SMX01 data center located in Jakarta, one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing data center and digital infrastructure hubs, allowing the company to expand its footprint into Southeast Asia.
SMX01 is set to open in Q4 2026. The $300 million data center was first announced in September 2024 as a joint venture between LGSM, SM+ Data Centers, and Korea Investment Real Asset Management. Construction started in March 2025.
Through the lease agreement, Konst will deploy GPU infrastructure supported by SMX01’s high power density capabilities.
Following the signing ceremony, Konst co-founder and chairman, Ben Chang, said: “Today marks a major milestone for Konst as we take the next step in expanding our AI infrastructure business into Southeast Asia. Indonesia is a key market for AI, and we are proud to work with SM+, LGSM, Giga Computing, and Raydian Cloud to build the next generation of AI data centers. This strong partnership is only the beginning. We believe Konst can become a leading and innovative brand in the AI ecosystem, and we look forward to deepening our collaboration.”
Ariawan, COO of LG Sinar Mas, added: “As SMX01 moves closer to its operational launch, establishing strategic partnerships with industry leaders like Konst is essential to fulfilling our commitment to deliver a world-class, AI-ready data center. By combining LGSM’s end-to-end design, construction, and operations expertise with Konst’s proven capabilities, we are reinforcing our commitment to setting the standard for reliability and excellence in Indonesia’s digital infrastructure landscape.”
SMX01 will support high-density workloads, with up to 130kW per rack. The data center is set to have a total capacity of 27MW with a first-phase target of 6MW.
GPU servers will be supplied by Giga Computing (a subsidiary of Gigabyte), and GPU cluster deployment and operations are being managed by AI infrastructure service provider Raydian Cloud.
Founded in 2024, Taiwanese cloud provider and AI infrastructure company Konst is headquartered in Nangang, Taipei. Its operations include GPU data center construction, GPU cloud services, bare-metal leasing, colocation services, and AI infrastructure. Built using Nvidia hardware, Konst’s network spans nine countries across three continents, comprising 42MW of operational and under-development capacity.
LG Sinar Mas is a 50:50 joint venture between LG CNS, a South Korean data center and IT services company, and SM+, a business unit of Sinar Mas focused on digital infrastructure and services.
Jakarta-based SM+ is a digital infrastructure and services platform backed by local conglomerate Sinar Mas and founded in 2023. It has two divisions, the first of which, SM+ Data Centers, owns and operates 25 data centers across Indonesia, amounting to almost 40MW of operational and under-development IT load capacity. The second branch, SM+ Technology Solutions, operates as an IT service provider and systems integrator.
Konst also recently shared company updates on LinkedIn, including its plans to initiate an initial public offering (IPO) in 2027, as well as the formation of two new business units: the Token Business Unit, which aims to build Asia’s largest Token Factory, and the Compute Fund Division.
