US-based T5 Data Centers has launched a new facilities management (FM) business aimed at data center operators across North America.

T5 Facilities Management (T5FM) will be run as a separate subsidiary of the company.

The data center operator said it wants to extend the same level of FM service that T5 offers internally in its seven US locations.

T5 has facilities in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Dallas and Charlotte with new projects announced in Portland, New York and Colorado.

With an aggregate of 100 years of experience in data center management, T5 argued that it has fine tuned the process and can offer it more efficiently.

The cornerstones of T5FM’s service philosophy will be safety, training, process and procedure and customer communications, for which it has devised a range of its own custom designed programs.

The customized facility management training program includes details about mechanical, electrical and plumbing and fire protection systems.

Training is modified to suit each location.

The Process and Procedures service includes a baseline for all site-specific methods of procedures, standard operating procedures and emergency operating procedures.

T5 said its FM service will help its clients communicate better with customers through its computerized maintenance management systems so customers can track preventive maintenance, alarms and trouble ticketing.

All T5FM technicians are certified in safety disciplines of OSHA, NFPA 70 and first aid and it follows NFPA 70 guidelines.

The company has also devised its own electrical safety program.

T5 Data Centers COO Mike Casey said creating its own data center facilities management company was a logical next step.

“We only operate data centers,” Casey said.

“That’s our core competency and we want our customers to benefit from our extensive experience managing enterprise grade wholesale data centers."
