Data center firm Switch has purchased another plot of land in Nevada.
Rob Roy’s firm has paid some $86.2 million for 53.6 acres in the southern Las Vegas valley, according to property records.
The site is located east of Decatur Boulevard, between Serene Avenue and Silverado Ranch Boulevard. News of the acquisition was reported by the Las Vegas Review Journal.
Switch is expanding its data center portfolio to cater to the demands of the AI boom, and has been aggressively purchasing land around its Las Vegas base.
As reported by DCD in January, it paid $85.5 million for 165 acres of land at the Apex industrial park, and in March it purchased another 140 acres at the park, northeast of Las Vegas, adjacent to Highway 93.
The company has also been raising money to fund its data center buildout. Earlier this month, it revealed it had upped its available debt facility to $9.5 billion.
Founded in 2000, Switch operates its large 'Prime' data center campuses in Austin, Texas; Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada; Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Atlanta, Georgia. Over the last year, it has filed to expand further in Austin and Atlanta.
DigitalBridge, alongside IFM Investors, took Switch private in an $11bn deal in December 2022. Australian pension fund Aware Super invested $500m into Switch in 2023.
