"I was fortunate to work with some amazing people as a part of Supermicro’s rapid data center growth," Garvens said.

"Going forward, I’m excited to work with Google’s thought leaders defining future data centers - optimizing velocity, TCO, and sustainability. I look forward to new collaborations and continuing my existing partnerships."

Garvens was previously the VP of hardware platform engineering at Google for just under two years, in charge of planning, architecture, design, and validation of hardware for Google data centers.

Prior to that role, Garvens worked at Dell for nearly 20 years, most recently as the VP of server infrastructure.
