Data center services provider Steadfast Networks has opened a new data center in Chicago, Ill., bringing an additional 6,000 sq ft of raised floor and 750kW of power to the market. The company's focus is dedicated hosting but it also has a colocation offering.

"Our goal at Steadfast Networks is to give you highly competitive pricing in downtown Chicago without cutting any corners on performance and quality," Steadfast CEO Karl Zimmerman said in a statement.. "We have the size and scale to easily deliver managed hosting services and colocation hosting services to small, medium, and enterprise businesses, but with a commitment to flexibility and the personal customer service often found in a small company."

This is the first phase of the facility at 725 S. Wells St., whose full-build-out capacity is 4.5MW. A dedicated dark fiber ring connects the new data center to the company's 10,000 sq ft space at Digital Realty Trust's large carrier hotel at 350 E. Cermak Rd. and another site at 600 S. Federal St.

Network carriers available in the building housing the company's new data center include Level 3, AT&T, Verizon, Qwest, AboveNet and Cogent.

This is a second Steadfast expansion this year. In February, the company announced the acquisition of The New York NOC, a hosting service provider with presence in the New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas and Atlanta markets. Steadfast has also been leasing space at a Switch and Data (now part of Equinix) facility in North Bergen, N.J.
