Tryfacta, a staffing and consulting company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Uttar Pradesh to develop a 1GW data center worth $7.7 billion.

The campus will be located in Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous state, but its exact location is unknown.

Other details about the data center are vague. According to a LinkedIn post, the campus will have access to the grid and “future nuclear integration,” with plans for a “multi-gigawatt long-term expansion.” Construction timelines were also not made available.

A MoU is a low-stakes agreement that signals interest without being legally binding, and it is a common tool used by Indian state governments and data center operators to raise the public profile of a deal.

Tryfacta’s deal was one of many AI-related commitments made at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, which took place from 16 to 20 February.

Indian conglomerates Reliance Industries and the Adani Group, for instance, have each pledged more than $100bn to develop data centers in the country.

It is unclear whether Tryfacta has prior experience with developing or managing data centers.

Founded in 1996, Tryfacta is headquartered in California and got its start as a “specialized IT staffing firm.” The company also seems to have experience with government contracting, claiming to have deployed more than 6,700 workers across 40 states.

It also offers consulting services on a number of different tech-related fields like AI, cybersecurity, and cloud.
