Spanish data center firm Templus has expanded its data center in Malaga.

“We have turned our facilities into a benchmark for Andalusia, aligning ourselves with the highest standards of sustainability and efficiency," the company said on LinkedIn this week.

Templus CEO, Ignacio T. Velilla Rincón added: "This infrastructure is critical to provide services to all companies in the region, as well as to the public sector, which to date did not have a first-class infrastructure in a province like Malaga, which is a first-rate innovation hub. Templus comes to meet the needs of an increasingly technological and competitive business fabric.”

The new CPD3 room features 40 racks. Local press including El Economista note the company has increased the capacity of its Malaga facility to 3MW after investing €15 million ($15.7m). Located in the Guadalhorce industrial estate, the facility now totals 2,200 sqm. It also has on-site solar generation.

Templus launched earlier this year after ICG and Teras Capital acquired the data center business of Spanish telco Avatel. The Avatel portfolio, along with a data center acquired from Mapfe, make up Templus’ current data center network.

The Málaga site is one of the five data centers with which Templus operates, along with locations such as Madrid and Seville, for a total installed capacity of 15 MW.

The company has mapped the national market in search of new opportunities, Velilla told El Economista. It has identified projects totaling 95MW of power and reportedly has Mallorca and Ceuta on its radar and hopes to acquire new assets in 2025.

Velilla previously told DCD Spain that the company is targeting data centers between 2 and 10MW, and previously said the company is targeting facilities in Barcelona, Valencia, Zaragoza, and San Sebastián, with plans to expand to other European markets.
