South African real estate firm the Cavaleros Group is looking to move into the data center sector with plans for two campuses.

The company has launched a new unit, Cosmas Data Cities, which plans to develop two sites in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

The Johannesburg Cosmas Data City in the Samrand area of the city could offer 200MW via a 450MW self-built switching station. The 100-acre Cape Town development could total 360MW.

Further details on location, campus specifications, or development timelines weren’t shared.

Cavaleros is working with Knight Frank and data center engineering services providers Future-tech.

The company also said it has plans in the works for sites in East and West Africa, though didn’t share details.
