Crypto and AI data center firm Soluna Holdings is planning another wind farm-colocated data center in Texas.

The company announced last week that it has signed a term sheet for power for Project Ellen, a new 100MW data center colocated with a 145MW wind farm in South Texas.

Project Ellen will be developed in two 50MW phases; further details weren’t shared.

The wind farm is owned by an unnamed power partner, described as a “leader in renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure” in the US and internationally.

“With Project Ellen, we continue to prove that computing can be a powerful driver for renewable energy adoption,” said John Belizaire, CEO of Soluna Holdings. “This expansion in Texas reinforces our commitment to solving the challenge of underutilized green power while providing the infrastructure needed for the future of Bitcoin and AI.”

Project Ellen is named after Ellen Ochoa, the first Hispanic woman to travel to space and a trailblazer in aerospace engineering.

Soluna places modular data centers colocated at renewable energy sites to host mining or AI hardware, while also offering its own cloud services.

In addition to Ellen, the company operates or is developing several other campuses in Texas, including the 187MW Project Rosa site; the 50MW Dorothy I A and B, as well as the 48MW Dorothy II; and the 2MW Grace site.

The company also has Project Sophie, which will be a 25MW data center in Kentucky.

The company recently signed definitive agreements to secure two parcels of land required to build Project Kati in Texas. The site will offer 166MW and potentially host both Bitcoin mining and artificial intelligence (AI) facilities. The shovel-ready project will be delivered in two 83MW phases.

At full build-out, the company aims to host a total of 698MW of data center capacity spread across nine separate sites. In its earnings presentation, Soluna claims a long-term pipeline totaling 19 projects and up to 2.6GW of capacity.
