Soluna, the developer of Bitcoin and AI mining data centers, has announced an expansion of its working partnership with Galaxy Digital.

Under the terms of the new deal, Galaxy Digital will deploy 48MW of compute power at Soluna’s Project Kati 1 in the Texas panhandle.

The addition of 48MW at Project Kati 1 brings the site to its full capacity of 83MW.

Galaxy’s proprietary mining operations were previously deployed at Galaxy’s own Helios data center. However, this site is now being leased out to neocloud CoreWeave - the former crypto platform that now provides AI infrastructure for the hyperscalers.

Galaxy’s 48MW deployment at Kati 1 makes it the largest single customer in Soluna’s history, and is expected to ramp up to full energization by Q1 and Q2 of 2026. The first 35MW is expected to begin this summer, and be fully operational by next year.

“As demand from hyperscaler miners continues to surge, Soluna is scaling to meet the moment,” said John Belizaire, CEO of Soluna.

“This partnership with Galaxy represents our largest MW deployment to date and underscores how our modular approach allows us to deliver efficient, renewable-powered infrastructure at scale. We’re proud to deepen our relationship with Galaxy and help power the next wave of computing,” Belizaire added.

“As we transition our Helios campus to an AI and high-performance computing data center, we’re pleased to relocate a portion of our existing Bitcoin mining assets to Soluna to manage.” said Sam Kiernan, Business Development Lead at Galaxy.

Once operational, Soluna expects the expansion will bring its full operational capacity to 206MW.

Soluna has nine data center sites in various stages of development: Project Sophie, Project Dorothy 1 & 2, Project Kati 1, Project Grace, Project Rosa, Project Hedy, Project Ellen, and Project Annie.

The company currently has a 2.66GW power pipeline; 2.9EH/s of Bitcoin mining hashrate, and 89MW of compute power already live. Another 123MW of capacity is still available for energization across Soluna’s numerous sites.

Galaxy describes itself as a digital asset and blockchain firm; its offerings include trading, lending, strategic advisory services, institutional-grade investment solutions, Bitcoin mining and hosting services, network validating services, and the development of enterprise self-custodial technology.

After breaking ground in July 2021, Galaxy's 160-acre Helios campus started operations in May 2022. Galaxy acquired the data center, located in Dickens County, from Argo Blockchain in late 2022 for approximately $65 million. As part of the deal, the two companies signed a two-year hosting deal. Argo sold the facility to pay down its debts amid the prospect of bankruptcy.
