Cryptomine and AI data center developer Soluna has announced a new partnership with Bitcoin mining hardware firm, Canaan Inc.

The deal will see 20MW of Canaan’s Avalon A15 XP Bitcoin miners deployed at Soluna’s Project Dorothy facility in Briscoe County, Texas.

The miners are expected to be deployed on-site by the first quarter of 2026, and are slated to deliver 1EHps of Bitcoin mining capacity.

Soluna’s Project Dorothy site is mainly powered by behind-the-meter wind power, and is able to draw power from the grid when necessary to ensure high operational uptime.

John Belizaire, CEO of Soluna, said the company was “doubling down” on its renewable energy aims, and stated his delight at working with an industry-leading hardware producer like Canaan.

He said: “This agreement reflects our shared commitment to delivering high-performance computing solutions powered by renewable energy. With Project Dorothy 2 now online and operational, we’re doubling down on our mission to make renewable energy a global superpower.”

Soluna has three ‘Dorothy’ sites, of which Dorothy 1A and 1B are already operational. Dorothy 2 is currently under construction. The three sites add to Soluna’s total of 12 mining sites that are either operational, under construction, or in development. The company states that when all sites are operational, they will combine for a total of 1GW of data center capacity.
