AsiaPhos, a Singaporean clean energy company that formerly specialized in phosphate mining, could develop data centers in collaboration with the international wing of China’s largest telco, China Mobile.

The pair signed a non-binding Letter of Intent to explore the possibility of developing data centers in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.

The letter states that AsiaPhos will consider China Mobile International as a “top priority” supplier when it comes to developing and building the data center, and China Mobile International will “introduce potential customers… in the areas of data centers and artificial intelligence computing services projects.”

More specific details about the partnership are unavailable due to its preliminary nature.

According to AsiaPhos’ website, it intends to be a “world-class leader in clean energy solutions and renewable energy development,” and it is unclear whether the company has had any prior experience with the data center industry.

China Mobile is a state-owned telco. It operates as CMHK in Hong Kong, Zong in Pakistan, and CMLink in Southeast Asian and European countries.
