Schneider Electric has launched a new version of its NetShelter server room in a box designed for companies that find virtualization and cloud computing are reducing their in-house IT needs, and the need for a dedicated server room.
The NetShelter CX is designed to sit in any office environment with added security and minimal noise and a look designed to fit in with other office furniture.
Schneider Electric said the soundproof casing of the NetShelter CX can reduce server noise by up to 90%.
The all-in-one home for networking and server equipment can also reduce operating costs by 98% and capital costs by 80% when compared to a traditional server rooms, the vendor said.
Schneider has enhanced the box for higher density deployments, with a 4-Post EIA Spec rack mounted on full depth rails which can be relocated inside the enclosure which allows the box to be used as a networking closet and server cabinet.
It has also enhanced its security features, upgrading its latching for additional tamper-resistance and adding removable side doors and rear ventilation units.
Schneider Electric Solution Offer Manager David O’Coimin said the NetShelter CX is the cornerstone of the company’s new approach to Infrastruxure for Small IT.
“With these new features in place, we now expect to see use of the CX expand where security is an issue, such as in retail banking, or where It is installed in public areas,” O’Coimin said.
