US tower company SBA Communications is considering a potential sale.
Bloomberg reports that the company has received some preliminary takeover interest.
Large infrastructure funds are reportedly interested in snapping up the company. SBA is working with advisers to evaluate the interest, sources told the publication.
Bloomberg notes that shares in the company jumped by 18.93 percent to $204.04 a share, last Thursday, giving the company a market value of $21.6 billion.
The newswire estimates that, including debt, SBA has an enterprise value of about $37bn.
SBA operates more than 46,000 sites, consisting of towers, buildings, rooftops, distributed antenna systems, and small cells.
In the US, SBA owns more than 17,000 towers, and is one of the bigger tower operators, behind American Tower and Crown Castle.
Founded in 1989, the Florida-based company also operates in South America, Central America, and Africa. Last year, SBA announced plans to sell its Canadian tower business to CVC DIF for CA$446 million ($241m).
