Saudi data center firm center3 is targeting 1GW of capacity by 2030.

The STC company last week announced a $10 billion investment plan, on top of the $3 billion it said it had already spent on its data center capacity.

Center3 is a subsidiary of Saudi Telecom formed in 2022. It has some 20 data centers in development and operation in and around the Kingdom as well as Bahrain. The company aims to reach 300MW of total installed capacity by 2027.

Details of how it aims to invest the $10 billion and where that 1GW of capacity will be located weren’t shared.

“We are not just expanding data centers, we are enabling the future digital economy. With 1GW as our target, we are laying the foundation for AI, cloud, and hyperscale workloads, ensuring that Saudi Arabia and the region have the world-class infrastructure to lead in the next wave of global innovation,” said Fahad AlHajeri, CEO of center3.

The company last year expanded its Khurais Riyadh facility with an additional 9.6MW of capacity. Oracle announced it was hosting its Saudi Arabian public cloud region in a Center3 data center in August. Huawei hosts its Saudi cloud region in a center3 facility.

In October the company announced a partnership with Saudi-based data center developer DataVolt.
