Cryptominer and data center developer Riot Platforms is expanding its campus outside Dallas, Texas, with a new building.

The company recently filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to develop a new data center building at its existing campus at 6980 FM 709 in Corsicana.

Project Ditto will see a new two-story data center building, totaling 335,430 sq ft (31,162 sqm). Development on the $400 million project is set to run from April 2026 to May 2028.

Corsicana is a city in and the county seat of Navarro County, some 50 miles southeast of Dallas.

Riot operates several buildings at its Corsicana campus, and last year acquired a further 238 acres, taking the site to around 890 acres.

The site is currently equipped with 400MW of power for Bitcoin mining, while the company’s long-term plans involve taking the site’s full capacity to a total of 1GW.

Riot aims to pivot at least part of the site to AI and HPC use cases as part of a wider company shift.

Formerly known as Riot Blockchain, Riot is one of the world's largest Bitcoin miners. Riot owns and manages more than 1,100 acres and 1.7GW of power capacity across its two Texas facilities. It also owns two operational sites in Kentucky, totaling 60MW, after acquiring Block Mining in July 2024. The sites could total more than 300MW at full build-out.

Riot recently scored AMD as a customer, which will be leasing 50MW of capacity in Rockdale, Texas.

Greenpeace previously accused Riot of operating the “largest, and one of the most energy and carbon-intensive, Bitcoin mines in the US.”
