Cloud management software company RightScale announced a multi-cloud cost management solution to help companies implement budget controls in cloud environments.
Called CloudAnalytics, the solution provides cloud usage and cost analysis as well as forecasting and scenario planning across major public and private clouds. It is integrated with the RightScale Cloud Management platform.
The solution is a result of RightScale's 2012 acquisition of the Scottish company ShopForCloud, whose technology provided cost analysis for usage of cloud services. The product was renamed into PlanForCloud post acquisition.
Michael Crandell, CEO of RightScale, said, the majority of enterprises today have an infrastructure strategy that includes multiple public, private and hybrid cloud set-ups. “Our vision for acquiring PlanForCloud.com was to provide organizations with a complete solution to effectively and efficiently manage their portfolio of applications across their portfolio of clouds,” he said.
“Cloud Analytics enables technical, business, and financial managers to get actionable information that enables successful and cost-effective cloud adoption.”
Users can slice and dice costs by cloud, application, department, and team, as well as drill down to lists of individual servers so that technical teams can take action. Its forecasting capabilities combine current usage and historical trends with growth patterns based on your business plans and expectations.
They can also define alternate scenarios to evaluate projected costs based on different clouds, instance sizes, regions, or reserved instance purchase options.
When available, the solution can be bought separately or as part of a bundle with Cloud Management. The company is currently offering beta accounts and plans for general availability in 2014.
