To meet the strong market demand for high-density, Class "A" Tier IV data center floor space, RagingWire Enterprise Solutions, Inc. (RES) has announced it has initiated a total expansion of 89,000ft┬▓ feet to its Enterprise Data Center in Sacramento, California. RES, a leading provider of fully hosted managed services and world-class information technology outsourcing solutions, expects its Phase 3 build-out to be completed in the third quarter (Q3) of 2007.
"Today's Fortune 500 companies have recognized that designing and managing a top-tier data center is a core competency in itself. These companies are not interested in traveling down an intensive capital learning cycle to 'get this right.'" said John Hoffman, CEO of RES. "In fact, we have had several top Silicon Valley companies move out of their recently built corporate data centers because they were not able to utilize high-density blade servers due to power and cooling restrictions inherent in their internal designs. RagingWire's Phase 3 expansion is specifically for these customers. We want to allow our clients the ability to expand footprint and power densities at their own pace without risk."
In addition to the data center expansion, RES has built its own onsite 69KV power substation. With power supplied from two separate grids, the substation is capable of 24MW of capacity. According to Yatish Mishra, president and chief technology officer of RES, the utilization average across the entire Phase 3 data center floor is engineered to reach over 200W per square foot. This level of cooling was made possible by incorporating multiple 1,200-ton chillers, a 4-foot raised floor, a 32-foot ceiling, and oversized main chilled water lines.
"New regulatory and business continuity requirements are making it difficult for companies to internally maintain the necessary storage, power and cooling capabilities needed to effectively grow business," said Mishra. "RagingWire delivers superior infrastructure and robust, value-added IT solutions that ensure our clients meet their changing business requirements today, and in the future."
Strategically located in seismically stable Sacramento Valley, RES' data center is SAS 70 Type II compliant and engineered to provide "five nines" (99.999%) service availability for highly reliable and scalable power and cooling. RES offers a wide range of IT infrastructure and managed service solutions that accommodate enterprise companies seeking a secure location to host and support their mission-critical business systems.
