US regional Edge data center firm RadiusDC has acquired a data center in Phoenix, Arizona.
The company this week announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Phoenix data center and colocation business of PhoenixNAP.
The transaction includes PhoenixNAP’s existing Phoenix colocation facility, interconnection infrastructure, and development rights for future campus expansion. PhoenixNAP will remain a tenant in the Phoenix facility.
Terms were not shared, but the deal is set to close in Q2 2026.
The acquired facility will form RadiusDC's Phoenix I campus, combining an existing operational data center with a planned expansion supported by committed utility capacity.
At closing, RadiusDC aims to expand the existing building to 8MW and begin development of a second, 18MW, facility known as DC2. The first phase of the new building could come online in the first half of 2028.
"This acquisition strengthens RadiusDC's national platform and expands our ability to serve customers in one of the country's most important connectivity markets," said Mike Krza, RadiusDC CEO. "The Phoenix facility adds a highly established interconnection ecosystem with a strong, diverse customer base and significant expansion capacity. By integrating this campus into our broader portfolio, we enhance our ability to deliver scalable infrastructure in key metropolitan markets — while maintaining the operational continuity customers rely on today."
Founded in 2010, PhoenixNAP is an IT services provider offering Infrastructure-as-a-Service solutions, including bare metal servers, cloud, hardware leasing, and colocation.
The company opened its 200,000 sq ft (18,600 sqm) data center in Phoenix back in 2010. The company purchased the property, at 3402 E University Drive, for $6.3 million in 2009. The company originally announced plans for a second data center, adjacent to its existing facility, back in 2021, with some work starting on the project last year.
RadiusDC said approximately 80 percent of PhoenixNAP's global business, including its bare metal cloud and network service platforms, will continue to be independently owned and operated by PhoenixNAP and its existing management team.
"We are pleased to partner with RadiusDC on the transition of our Phoenix colocation business," said Ian McClarty, president of PhoenixNAP. "This transaction allows phoenixNAP to focus on its core services while ensuring the facility continues to grow under an experienced data center operator. We look forward to ongoing collaboration and continued service for our customers."
IPI Partners first launched RadiusDC in 2022 as an Edge firm, focusing on metro markets. IPI was acquired by Blue Owl last year.
RadiusDC’s existing footprint includes data centers in Denver, Colorado, and Miami, Florida.
The company acquired its Miami facility in August 2024. It announced plans to expand its 1500 Champa facility in Denver last year. The firm broke ground on a new colocation facility in Nashville, Tennessee, in September, and it acquired the 55 Marietta carrier hotel in Atlanta, Georgia, in December.
The company is also developing a 24MW data center campus outside Indianapolis, Indiana.
