Rackspace has appointed Ryan Neading, who used to lead eBay’s development site in Austin, Texas, as its new CIO.

He takes responsibility for the company’s billing systems, tech operations, metrics, its interface with suppliers and reports to Rackspace COO Mark Roenigk.

Roenigk said Neading is an experienced leader in running world-class back office functions globally, including financial systems and services, business management and analytics.

“His skills and understanding of large scale enterprise technologies will help enhance the effectiveness of our operations,” Roenigk said.

The appointment follows Rackspace hire of Will Knight, its new VP of channel partner sales.

Knight previously worked as an executive with Microsoft in the UIS, China and Singapore.

He looked after Microsoft’s cloud sales and its geo expansion for APAC.
