Engie North America has signed a 48MW solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with QTS to support the latter's data center operations in Irving, Texas.

The agreement was signed alongside a PPA between Engie and Abei Energy, under which Engie secured capacity from Abei Energy's Lubio Solar project in north-central Texas.

The solar project has a capacity of 61MW and is being developed in Kaufman County, Texas. The site is expected to be completed in April 2028 and will be connected to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grid.

“This project is a meaningful step forward in our renewable energy strategy, supporting the long-term sustainability and operational resilience of our Texas footprint,” said Travis Wright, VP of energy and sustainability at QTS.

“By partnering with Engie, we’re able to support reliable, renewable energy procurement while simplifying delivery through our retail supply arrangement. Collaborations like this help us align clean energy procurement with the operational needs of our data centers.”

QTS operates one data center in Irving, adjacent to Dallas, Texas. The 55-acre site, at 6431 Longhorn Drive, offers 147MW of capacity across three buildings. In addition to Irving, QTS has Texas campuses in Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Dallas.

Engie has signed numerous PPAs across the data center sector. These include agreements with the likes of Meta, Google, and Amazon.
