QTS has filed to develop a large data center outside Atlanta, Georgia.

The Blackstone-owned company this week filed a Development of Regional Impact application with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for ATL2 East.

The project is described as a 2 million sq ft (185,806 sqm) data center located west of Veterans Parkway on an approximately 313-acre site in Fayetteville. The project could be completed by 2029.

QTS filed the application via QTS Eastwood, LLC.

QTS has two existing campuses in Georgia: the 1033 Jefferson Street NW site in Central Atlanta, spanning more than 100 acres and offering more than 275MW of capacity; and a 385,000 sq ft (35,760 sqm) facility to the northeast of the city in Suwanee.

Fayetteville, located in Fayette County, is around 20 miles south of Atlanta.

QTS is known to be developing a large campus in Fayetteville. The company filed to develop Project Excalibur back in 2022. QTS plans to develop 6.6 million sq ft (613,160 sqm) of data center space across 16 buildings on the 615-acre site. The campus would total around 250MW.

Whether this latest filing is an expansion on top of the company’s existing plans, or an amendment to previously filed plans is unclear.
