Spanish quantum computing company Qilimanjaro has launched a full-stack Quantum-as-a-Service cloud offering that will provide remote access to both analog and digital quantum computers, in addition to classic systems.

Dubbed SpecQtrum, the QaaS offering gives users access to the company’s data center in Barcelona, Spain, where Qilimanjaro has integrated its analog QPUs (quantum processing units) alongside digital QPUs and classical HPC accelerators.

In a statement, Qilimanjaro said the framework in which the QPUs and GPUs are integrated has been designed to enable researchers and developers to prototype, execute, and optimize quantum workflows to improve results beyond what is offered by individual or dual modalities.

“SpeQtrum QaaS is the first opportunity for researchers and developers to have access to the best of three worlds, both digital and analog quantum QPUs and classical GPUs,” said Marta Estarellas, CEO of Qilimanjaro. “Users will be able to select the platform best suited to the particular use case from the world’s first multimodal quantum data center.”

Founded in 2019 as a spin-off from the University of Barcelona, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, and the Institut de Física d'Altes Energies, Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech describes itself as a full-stack quantum computing company focused on analog quantum chips and fluxonium qubits.

Fluxonium qubits are a type of superconducting circuit that offers high anharmonicity (deviating vibrational frequencies) and reduced sensitivity to noise, allowing for faster gates and longer coherence times.
