Private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management will back the development of a delayed subsea cable project stretching from Singapore to the Persian Gulf.

The Singapore-India-Gulf, or SING cable, is set to land in Muscat, Oman; Kalba, the UAE; Mumbai and Chennai, India; Kedah, Malaysia; and Singapore, and the cable is set to be operational by 2030.

Cyprus-based subsea infrastructure provider Datawave first announced the project in April 2020, but delays have meant that little construction progress has been made.

When the project was first announced, Cerberus-owned American subsea infrastructure operator SubCom was set to manage the cable.

Although SubCom has not been named in Datawave’s January 2026 press release, it states that the design, manufacturer, and deployment of SING will be managed by an unnamed “leading US-based supplier of subsea cable systems.”

The SING Cable is Datawave’s only project, and the company does not seem to have any other operational cables.

Datawave was founded by Mark Wickham in 2018. Wickham previously worked at SubCom – the contractor responsible for SING’s development and management – for 13 years before founding Datawave.
