South Korean cloud provider Naver is to expand its fleet of Nvidia GPUs.

As part of a series of announcements centered on South Korea, Nvidia this week announced that Naver will be expanding its sovereign AI infrastructure, starting at 55MW, with plans to move to a gigawatt scale.

The Korean cloud firm will be using Nvidia’s DSX platform to rapidly design, build, and scale full-stack AI platforms.

“Useful AI has arrived, and demand for AI factories is extraordinary,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia. “Naver is building AI factory infrastructure that will serve its companies, developers, and industries. With Nvidia DSX, we can help Korea scale sovereign intelligence infrastructure for the agentic era — from AI agents to AI factories and physical AI.”

The new DSX-powered cloud will expand Naver’s Gak Sejong data center. The 55MW of capacity is due online in 2027. The company then aims to expand its infrastructure overseas to 100MW within the same year and 200MW by 2028.

DSX combines open software libraries, workflow guides, and reference designs with Nvidia compute platforms and co-designed OEM infrastructure. The platform is designed to accelerate build times and ensure token-per-watt efficiency.

Naver currently lists six cloud regions in South Korea, as well as one each in Japan, Germany, Singapore, and the US (West Coast). It is also planning future regions in the US (East Coast), Vietnam, Taiwan, and Thailand, and is expanding into the Middle East and North Africa.

The first phase of construction on the Sejong site was launched in November 2023. The site spans 290,000 sqm (3.1 million sq ft) and is planned to reach 270MW of capacity, hosting up to 600,000 servers running Naver's cloud services. Work on the second and third phases is ongoing.

In January, Naver said it had completed a cluster of 4,000 Nvidia B200 GPUs in one of its data centers in South Korea.
