Amazon has acquired a plot of land outside Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Via a stock exchange announcement, Sunsuria Bhd this week announced that its subsidiary Sunsuria City has entered into a conditional sale and purchase agreement with Amazon Data Services Malaysia Sdn Bhd to sell a parcel of land in Sepang, Selangor.

The deal would be for a total cash consideration of approximately RM316.84 million ($77.6m).

Located in the Mukim of Dengkil, some 40km south of Kuala Lumpur, the currently vacant site totals approximately 183,975 sqm (1,98 million sq ft) of freehold land. Sunsuria acquired the land in 2015 for RM145.97 million.

Details of any planned data center on the site have not been shared.

Sunsuria is a publicly listed property developer founded in 1989. The firm is largely focused on residential, commercial, and industrial property projects within Klang Valley.

Amazon launched its Malaysian cloud region in 2024 with three availability zones, and is known to have facilities around Cyberjaya. AWS has previously said it is planning to invest $6 billion in Malaysia by 2037.
