Pacific Investment Management Co. (Pimco) is reportedly in talks with Bank of America Corp. about providing around $14 billion in debt financing to Related Digital for an Oracle data center in Michigan.

As reported by Bloomberg and citing people familiar with the conversations, the funding would make Pimco a major backer for the project in Saline Township, Michigan, which is being developed for OpenAI.

The talks remain in the early stages. According to the sources, the funding could be structured as a bond, and some could be syndicated to other investors.

According to Bloomberg, this could be in a "144A format" which use privately placed debt securities that can be traded among institutional buyers.

The Saline Township project was confirmed in October 2025, with the site expected to offer 1GW of capacity and cost around $10bn to develop. The data center is part of OpenAI's Stargate project. Related Digital is developing the campus and has been targeting the site since August 2025.

Blue Owl Capital was previously in talks to provide financial backing for the site, but it pulled out of the project in December 2025.

Earlier this month, reports emerged that Related Digital was again closing in on finalizing funding for the data center campus, seeking a total of $16bn in financing. Blackstone is reportedly set to contribute $2bn in equity for the project.

Related Digital, Pimco, and Bank of America declined to comment to Bloomberg, though Oracle said the company was proud of the "rapid progress" made in financing the campus, and acknowledged that it was working with Related Digital and Bank of America.

Pimco is an American investment management firm owned by Allianz Group and has a large European real estate platform. The company launched a new European data center platform, Apto, in 2023. Pimco has teamed up with Blue Owl to help Meta access financing for its planned Hyperion data center.
