The Republic of the Philippines has put out a bid bulletin for a colocation data center contract.

The Bid Bulletin, posted to the Public-Private Partnership Center (PPP Center), is for the provision of one year of data center colocation for offsite disaster recovery.

The bid states that the data center will need to be located outside of Quezon City, but within 100 km.

The government requires enough room for a half rack of servers and network devices, and must have a dedicated Internet capable of communicating through LAN or tunnel.

The budget is up to Php 2.35 million ($41,331) for the colocation service. Bids must be received by October 14.

The Philippines' government has been struggling to establish data centers in the country. Last month, the Department of Information and Communications Technology revealed that it had not yet completed a single data center project, citing limited funding as the limiting factor.

In September 2023, the Philippines was revealed to be planning a government data center in North Luzon.
