Banco de Crédito del Perú (BCP) is set to invest more than $650 million in migrating to a hybrid cloud solution.

The Peruvian bank is partnering with Microsoft and Kyndryl to modernize its IT systems, with the investment spanning five years.

According to the company, it is one of the largest technology investments in Latin America's financial services sector.

BCP, Kyndryl, and Microsoft Azure will work together to develop a hybrid cloud computing environment for the bank's IT applications.

DCD has contacted BCP for more information about the hybrid cloud solution it will be deploying, and what cloud computing technologies it will use.

"The banking sector is rapidly evolving to meet consumer demands and preferences for an improved digital experience. While invisible to the public eye, a modern, agile, and robust IT infrastructure is absolutely critical to creating a resilient and accessible experience for today's consumers," said Leandro Peirano, managing director, Kyndryl Peru. "We are honored to support BCP in defining its IT modernization strategy and collaborating with Microsoft to bring the bank's vision to life."

BCP's CEO Diego Cavero added that the hybrid cloud solution will enable the bank to "modernize our technological systems to achieve more agile and flexible applications with world-class levels of stability and security, allowing us to offer a better experience for millions of our customers."

The largest and oldest financial institution in Peru, BCP's origins date back to 1889.

In October, DCD reported that the bank was rationalizing its data center footprint by deploying Lenovo nodes. The move was part of the bank's aim to optimize its data center and reduce its server fleet by installing 154 nodes of Lenovo's ThinkAgile VX servers, a hyperconverged infrastructure solution.

BCP's data center is located in La Molina, Peru, and is Uptime Tier III certified.

Microsoft has two cloud regions in South America - Chile, and Brazil.

Kyndryl was formed in 2021 when IBM spun off its managed services division. The company manages on-premises digital infrastructure and services for more than 4,000 clients, including the majority of Fortune 100 companies, and has operations in more than 60 countries.
