OVHcloud is set to launch a QPU-as-a-Service (QaaS) in September 2025 based on the Pasqal Orion Beta QPU.
The Pasqal Orion Beta QPU has a capacity of 100 neutral atom qubits, and will be available via OVH's Quantum Cloud platform.
By the end of 2025, three QPUs are expected to be available, and by the end of 2027, at least eight QPUs, including seven European ones, will be offered to QaaS customers in a pay-as-you-go model.
According to a technical overview from Pasqal, the Orion Beta QPU features five modules and has a power consumption of 10kW.
The overview adds: "The elementary data elements of Pasqal’s QPUs - quantum bits or qubits - are laser-cooled Rubidium atoms, individually trapped by tightly focused laser beams, called optical tweezers. The qubits are encoded in the atoms' electronic states by laser beams and then manipulated using lasers. The interaction of qubits with light enables access to the finest physical parameters, making our quantum processor a unique tool for creating and controlling complex quantum systems."
The system can operate at a temperature between 20-22°C (68-71.6°F).
The company has not stated which data centers the Pasqal QPU will be hosted in. DCD has contacted OVHcloud for more information.

OVH also offers access to eight quantum emulators via its infrastructure, having recently added the Qleo emulator from Quobly and Mimiq from Qperfect. In 2022, the company added an Atos quantum emulator to its cloud.
The company has a photonic quantum computer dubbed MosaiQ, from Quandela, which is being used by OVH's R&D department and is offered to students. MosaiQ was launched in March 2024 and is hosted in an OVH data center in Croix, France. The 2-qubit MosaiQ system uses beams of lights and photonics principles to run quantum applications. This means it avoids the need for cryogenic supercooling that some other systems rely on.
OVH's progress with quantum computing was revealed at the France Quantum event. The European cloud provider has also joined the AQUILA (Advanced Quantum Understanding: Implementing Large-scale Applications) call for expressions of interest put out by bpiFrance last year, a program aiming to increase access to quantum computing resources and technologies in France.
Based in France, OVHcloud currently operates 44 data centers across four continents.
US hyperscalers, including Amazon Web Services, Google, and Microsoft, all have quantum offerings of their own. Both Google and Microsoft offer access to Pasqal's neutral atom quantum computer via their quantum platforms. Amazon launched its own quantum chip, dubbed Ocelot, in February 2025, and Google launched the Willow chip in December 2024.
Earlier this month, Pasqal acquired Canadian photonic integrated circuit company Aeponyx.
