Oracle is in the midst of laying off a large number of workers around the world.

The company's Indian operations are believed to be heavily impacted, while US-based Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) teams are still learning of the job cuts. Update: We have received multiple reports of a number of cuts in Canada.

Teams known to be impacted include OCI's Enterprise Engineering division, Fusion ERP, data center operations technicians, technical project managers for the AI/ML team, and the broader OCI AI team.

While the US and India are the first to be hit, workers in other regions report unspecified manager meetings later in the week, suggesting that local cuts could be on their way.

OCI laid off several hundred workers last November, with thousands more let go across Oracle more broadly this March.

The company is simultaneously aggressively hiring for its AI data center expansion, which is core to OpenAI's Stargate effort. Earlier this year, OpenAI signed a $30bn-a-year deal with Oracle.

The cloud provider has also scored major cloud contracts with TikTok and Temu.

Oracle's share price is at an all-time high, surging 52 percent year-to-date.

The company did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
