Oracle Korea and Sun Microsystems Korea will merge this year following investigations by Korea's Fair Trading Commission into the effect the tech giant's merger would have on Korea's server market.
The Sun division is one of the last remaining ones, along with India, to be absorbed by Oracle, which acquired Sun early last year.
The Korean government also halted merger plans to reach a clear outcome on the commitments of Sun Microsystems Korea had made to supply the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) with a super computer.
Oracle has since agreed to pay compensation to KIST for delays to its high-performance computing programme.
