OpenAI is hiring for a clean energy and new technology lead.

The company posted a job listing for the role earlier this month, seeking a candidate to lead the company’s clean energy and emerging energy technology strategy.

According to the listing, the successful candidate will “work closely with regulatory and policy teams to align infrastructure expansion with OpenAI’s long-term environmental and operational objectives.”

The role is an individual contributor lead role and will initially have no direct reports. The main responsibilities will include evaluating where emerging energy technologies can materially improve reliability, cost, carbon, speed, or resilience; translating those options into practical deployment pathways; and helping ensure OpenAI’s infrastructure growth remains aligned with sustainability considerations.

OpenAI is seeking candidates with 15-plus years of experience in energy technology, infrastructure sustainability, clean energy procurement, power markets, data center energy strategy, utility programs, or related roles.

The role's salary range is advertised as $223,000 to $385,000 per year and will be fully remote. The listing can be found here.
