US engineering and consulting firm NV5 has been awarded $5 million to provide critical design services for high-voltage substations supporting new data center developments in Georgia and Nevada.

NV5 will handle engineering specifications, system design, construction oversight, and commissioning, playing a key role in connecting data centers to critical power infrastructure.

NV5’s scope includes detailed services such as SCADA and HMI programming, relay settings, and power system studies for substations ranging from 120kV to 345kV. The designs will feature multiple transmission lines, large-scale transformers, and advanced switchgear to enhance system reliability and adaptability.

The company will also coordinate with electric utilities and data center developers to ensure seamless integration of energy systems.

NV5 provides the public and private sectors with technology, conformity assessment, and consulting solutions. It focuses on six business verticals: testing, inspection, and consulting, infrastructure, utility services, environmental health sciences, buildings and owner representatives and geospatial technology.

Last year, the firm made two notable acquisitions in the data center market, acquiring data center commissioning and energy management companies, Kisebach Consulting and Senergy BCS.
