NTT Data this week announced that work had begun on a data center development in the Inzai-Shiroi area of Chiba Prefecture, outside Tokyo.

The facility is being developed via NTT Global Data Center (NTT GDC), the company’s main data center arm. Tokyo TKY12 will total 200MW across six buildings, with the first phase of development is due live in 2030.

The 50MW TKY11, located near the planned TK12 site, is scheduled to begin service in April 2027. Ground was broken on a 24MW building in April 2025.

NTT GDC has three sites in development across Japan – with two around Osaka and Kyoto in development, though the wider NTT company operates numerous other facilities across the country.

2025 saw NTT announce it had acquired land in both Tochigi and Osaka for new data center development. The Tochigi site, to the north of Tokyo, could host a 100MW campus, with the first phase due to launch in 2028.

Globally, NTT GDC currently offers more than 2GW of capacity across some 160 data centers in 20 markets, including the US, the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, Spain, France, Austria, Switzerland, South Africa, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, and India.
