Finnish vendor Nokia and IT infrastructure services provider Kyndryl have announced plans to offer advanced data center networking solutions and services to global enterprises.

In an announcement, the two companies said they have expanded their existing partnership portfolio to target enterprise data center networks.

The plans to deliver the data center networking services will combine Kyndryl's design, build, and management of hybrid cloud and data center environments with Nokia’s data center networking infrastructure solution with embedded security capabilities.

It will see Nokia integrate its Event-Driven Automation (EDA) technology, with Kyndryl Bridge, an AI-powered, open-integration digital business platform that enables customers to observe and orchestrate their entire technology environment, and for network automation management.

Nokia's EDA is an infrastructure automation platform which utilizes real-time data and machine learning to enable full automation of the data center network.

Nokia notes the partnership will help their enterprise customers to modernize and expand their data center networks.

On top of this, Kyndryl will also deploy Nokia’s IP routing products within its data center network.

“As enterprises face increasing workloads due to hybrid IT environments, AI adoption, and high-performance computing, the demand for highly reliable, low-latency, and secure connectivity has never been greater," said Paul Savill, global network and Edge computing practice leader at Kyndryl. "From leveraging AI-driven network automation to extending capabilities at the Edge, our comprehensive, end-to-end network services empower enterprises to mitigate future risks, meet regulatory requirements, and accelerate their technology transformation journey."

"By combining Kyndryl’s IT expertise with Nokia’s advanced, open, and secure network technology, we’re jointly creating solutions businesses can trust. This partnership makes it easier than ever for companies to modernize their data centers and stay ahead in the AI world," added Federico Guillén, president of network infrastructure at Nokia.

Nokia outlined the demand for cloud networking as customers consume greater volumes of data.

In October, the vendor's CEO Pekka Lundmark said the vendor sees a "significant opportunity" to expand its presence in the data center market, while last month the company extended its existing agreement to supply Microsoft Azure with data center routers and switches.

In September, Nokia also announced the launch of a data center automation platform, which it describes as an "event-driven automation" (EDA) platform.
