Kyndryl has sold a data center in New Zealand.

Local press, including Reseller News, has reported that Kiwi data center firm T4 Group has acquired Kyndryl’s East Tāmaki facility in Auckland.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Kyndryl and T4 Group said they would work to ‘ensure a smooth transition’ for data center clients.

T4 Group has reportedly been making use of the East Tamaki facility since March 2022 after signing an agreement with Kyndryl.

IBM announced it was building a new data center in New Zealand in 2009. The East Tāmaki facility is located at 42 Business Parade South in the Highbrook Business Park; the first phase spanned around 1,500 sqm (16,145 sq ft) within the 5,200 sqm (56,000 sq ft) facility. Big Blue – which spun out services unit Kyndryl in 2021 – developed the facility with New Zealand construction company Highbrook Development.

“This strategic move underscores T4 Group’s unwavering dedication to improving New Zealand's data center infrastructure on a journey towards a greener and more resilient digital future,” said T4 Group CEO Dean Addie.

T4 Group (not to be confused with T5 Data Centers) was established in 2021 with the aim of providing regional New Zealand with access to colocation data centers.

The company has data centers in Whangarei and Auckland, with another under construction on New Zealand’s South Island.

Kyndryl New Zealand managing director Audrey Campbell-Frear added: "We are pleased T4 Group have an unwavering commitment to excellence, and we are excited to build on our long-standing partnership with T4 as they increase their presence in the East Tamaki data center and provide high-quality data center services to local customers.”

T4 previously acquired Advanced Data Centres (ADC); an IT services firm in New Zealand that operates a facility on the North Island in Whangarei.

NTT is a customer of T4.
