A new Brazilian data center operator has launched
247 Data Centers is looking to cater to hyperscalers, large local companies, and Edge firms across Latin America.
It is backed by Autonomy Investimentos, a Brazilian investment and private equity firm specializing in the real estate market.
The new firm is led by CEO Rafael Garrido, who was previously the Latin American head at Vertiv. CTO Bruno Pagliaricci is a former consultant at Odata and BP Engenharia.
Roberto Miranda de Lima, founding partner and CEO of Autonomy, told DCD’s Brazilian edition the company has traditionally invested in logistics – with 1.3 million sqm (13.9m sq ft) in Brazil leased by large national and multinational companies – but began to explore potentially moving into data centers in 2020.
According to an interview with BNAmericas, 247 Datacenters is also backed by a combination of family offices, funds, and individuals from Brazil and North America.
Garrido said the company has six areas in development – four in São Paulo and two in Rio, based on land and assets already owned by Autonomy. It is also exploring further developments Fortaleza and Rio Grande do Sul.
Details on locations or campus scales were not shared, but the firm is considering campuses with a capacity of more than 100MW of IT load.
The company is reportedly in discussions with power providers and regulators and should have the first project ready by next year.
